SRA expands to offer Placement Services

Michelle profile pic webSRA Information Technology is excited to announce their expansion to offer Placement Services.

We have been helping clients with placement services for many years and recently noticed an increase in demand.  Clients that have worked with us previously have established relationships, feel comfortable with our team and have confidence with the expertise and professionalism we offer.

The SRA team was accommodating the needs of clients for placement services as well as their normal client work.  At first this was small, infrequent and easily managed, but as it grew the need for a dedicated Placement Services Manager grew.

SRA Information Technology helping MAP the future of Adelaide’s Northern Suburbs

SRA Information Technology (SRA) has a key role to play in the South Australian Government’s Northern Economic Plan.

The Plan, launched on the 28th January 2016, is an ambitious plan that aims to create jobs, improve social issues and engage young people in the Northern suburbs of Adelaide.

The State Government worked extensively with the Playford, Salisbury and Port Adelaide Enfield councils, as well as local businesses and residents to develop the Northern Economic Plan.

Part of the project included the launch of a new Government website – LOOKNORTH – that aims to make it easier for companies and individuals to invest in the north.

The website shows maps of the Playford, Salisbury and Port Adelaide Enfield Council districts, highlighting various projects in the districts, such as the $985 million Northern Connector project and $25 million worth of public housing upgrades.

SRA’s role in this exciting government initiative was to develop and implement a geospatial mapping solution that integrates with Department of State Development and Location SA data sources.  The solution was developed using a responsive design to ensure it is mobile friendly and to allow future growth.

It is expected that the mapping solution will be further developed in the future so that it can be used to showcase available land in the three districts, as well as zoning information; so investors wanting to build in the area can easily see what is available.

To find out more about the Northern Economic Plan, visit the South Australian Government site LOOKNORTH.

AWS leads Public Cloud Storage Services

AWS has been named ‘Leader’ in the 2015 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Public Cloud Storage Services.

AWS leads Microsoft and Google as the only three vendors in the Leader quadrant.

The Public Cloud Storage Services market is growing rapidly, with 60% of global companies expected to store customer-sensitive data in the public cloud by the end of 2016, up from less than 20% in 2014.

Talk to SRA today about planning your move to the AWS Cloud

Public cloud storage is infrastructure as a service (IaaS), providing object storage services through a REST API using Internet protocols. It is stand-alone, with no additional managed services required; vendors supply their core storage services off-premises and include on-demand, elastic storage capabilities in a self-service model. Stored data exists in a multitenant environment, accessible through the Internet or dedicated network connectivity.

Gartner’s 2015 Public Cloud Storage Services Report evaluates the capabilities of service providers across their broad suite of storage services — object, block, file and archiving tiers.

AWS Gartner Magic Quadrant

Gartner recognised AWS as an innovative and agile cloud storage provider with a steady cadence of new products and functionalities, which helps it sustain market leadership.

AWS’s storage portfolio continues to evolve to meet growing customer needs across a wide set of use cases. Hundreds of customers operate at petabyte (PB) scale with a few customers even exceeding 100 PBs: testament to its scale and customers’ trust in its operational prowess.

AWS has built an impressive marketplace ecosystem of SaaS partners that allows customers to more easily manage, analyze and protect the data that sits in the underlying storage tiers.

Ask SRA today about leveraging software in the AWS Cloud

SRA partners with AWS to help customers of all sizes design, architect, build, migrate and manage their workloads and applications in the AWS Cloud. As a Consulting Partner SRA has access to a range of resources and training to support our customers to deploy, run and manage applications in the AWS Cloud.

SRA to revolutionise search & rescue efforts!

Minister for Business Peter Styles announced SRA would receive a Northern Territory Government Business Innovation Support Initiatives (BISI) grant from the latest funding round to help them develop a search and rescue drone.

“SRA will use its grant to develop a prototype for an unmanned, aerial Search and Rescue System, or drone, which has the potential to save lives,” Mr Styles said.

“Innovative businesses are proven to be more sustainable, productive and efficient and, in turn, employ more people.

“The Country Liberals Government recognises innovation is an important economic driver and the BISI program is helping to foster a culture of innovation within the NT business community.”

The project will see the creation of a remotely controlled or automated aircraft that can be deployed during rescue situations.

The prototype will be tested for range, flight time, stability, environmental implications and ability to deploy thermal and HD imaging.

“SRA is extremely excited about the prospect of progressing this project which otherwise might have faced delays,” said SRA CEO Steve Rowe.

“It could potentially increase safety of both emergency personnel and casualties by acting as a forward scout to identify safe approach routes during rescues and even delivering items such as blankets or radios to the casualty.

“This technology could also significantly reduce the cost of rescue operations through the reduction of expensive helicopter hours.”

The BISI program launched on 1 July 2014 and is designed to encourage and enable innovation within the Northern Territory business community.
